Chemical Compatibility

SAFI has developed an extensive range of corrosion resistant Ball Valves to suit the demanding applications in use with industrial and agricultural users. Manufactured from advanced engineering plastics, they can be installed into virtually all types of pipeline.

SAFI Ball Valves can be used at temperatures from -20°C to 120°C with pressure ratings of up to 20 bars if required. The exceptional properties of the materials used by SAFI ensures resistance and compatibility with most of today's demanding chemical and process chemical applications.

QUALITY

SAFI Limited has the latest accreditation and operates a 100% product testing policy to ensure that all valves meet the design specification.

SERVICE

From our U.K. factory, we can supply individual valve identification, certification, maintenance and installation manuals and service spares lists.

If you have a specific application to resolve or would like to discuss your valve requirements in general, we would be pleased to arrange for one of our technical team to visit you. Alternatively, you can complete the online Application Audit.

MANUAL BALL VALVES

The SAFI range of Ball Valves is available from ½" to 6" full bore to enable high flow rates with the minimum of pressure drop.

The design of SAFI Ball Valves allows installation into most pipelines. Our 'Double Union' range offers fusion butt weld and threaded connections in PP PVC, ABS, PE, PVDF, etc., for plastic pipe work. The selection of plastic connections is available as imperial or metric and the threaded outlets as BSP or NPT.

The SAFI 'Flanged Compact' Ball Valves incorporate fully encapsulated metal reinforced flanges for installation into steel and lined piping systems as well as plastic ones. The flange faces have a serrated finish to assist with both full face and raised face sealing. 'Flanged Compact' Ball Valves were designed to allow actuation at a later date whilst installed in the pipe line if required. BS, DIN and ASA flange configurations are available from stock.

The SAFI range incorporates 2, 3 and 4 way valves which, with the selection of connections and materials, offers maximum design.

VALVE SECURITY

To address the increasing concern for the security and control of product and processes, SAFI has developed the following valve systems.

TAMPERPROOF

The SAFI Tamperproof System incorporates a locking pin in the handle which allows the valve to be locked either open or closed (2 and 3 way). The pin can be padlocked in place to allow access to the key holders only.

LOCKABLE

The SAFI Lockable Valve incorporates the locking system into the handle trigger which must be lifted to open the valve. The trigger can be locked in the open or closed position and has the facility to be closed with the lock in place, but not opened again until the lock is removed.

MANUAL FAILSAFE

With the incorporation of a spring return device built into the valve handle, SAFI can offer a valve that will automatically close when the operator leaves.

This system offers security against valves being left open when unattended, but without the need to fully automate a control system. Particularly useful at remote operating sites or locations.

ELECTRIC ACTUATION

SAFI manufactures and supplies an extensive range of electric actuators. The SAFI 'SM' Actuators are manufactured from our corrosion resistant GRPP material which offer excellent resilience and durability.

SM1 ACTUATOR

The SAFI SM1 Actuator has a compact design to operate in areas where space is limited. The SM1 has a number of speed options and is available in 12, 24 and 48 volt AC and DC and has an internal manual override.

SM2 ACTUATOR

The SAFI SM2 is designed to offer maximum flexibility with voltage options as the SM1, but extended to include 110 and 240 volt AC. The SM2 has an external manual override and position indicator.

The SAFI SM1 and SM2 can be fined with additional microswitches and cams for voltage free feedback, trickle feed, additional positioning, etc.

All SAFI ball valves can be electrically actuated from 12 volt AC and DC through to 380/415 volt AC.

All actuators are rated to IP65 and are available with options including controllers, positioners, failsafe close, manual overrides, etc., if required.

PNEUMATIC ACTATION

To meet the demand for greater automation SAFI offers a range of pneumatically actuated Ball Valves.

All SAFI Ball Valves are designed to accept pneumatic actuation. Indeed, many of the new valves can be actuated with little or no modification whilst installed in the pipe line.

A series of mounting kits and drives are available to assist with the modification from manual to actuated.

The 'Double-Acting' Actuators have a visual position indicator and manual override as standard with the following options.

Fail safe spring return unit.
Limit switch box.
Positioner limit switch box.
Solenoid valves.
Positioner.
3-Stop positioner.
I/P controller.
Angle transducer.
Electro-pneumatic positioner.
180° Rotary actuator.
Geared manual overrides.
Mounting kits and drives.

CHEMICAL COMPATIBILITY

To ensure compatibility and resistance with the extensive range of chemicals in use today, the SAFI Range of Ball Valves is available in a number of engineering polymers including.

GRPP
(Glass reinforced Polypropylene)

A glass reinforced material with good resistance to acid, alkali, salt solutions and most organic solvents offering good abrasion characteristics and UV stabilisation. Suitable for operating at temperatures of up to 100°C.

PVDF (Polyvinylidene Fluoride)

An advanced thermoplastic material with excellent chemical and mechanical properties and low temperature impact resistance. PVDF is resistant to most organic and inorganic acids, hydrocarbons, solvents and alcohols. PVDF has good abrasion resistance and is a non-toxic material with an operating range of -20°C to +120°C.

PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride)

An excellent all round material in general use, resistant to most acids, alkalis, salts and water based solvents, but with a limited temperature range of 0°C to +60°C.

These materials, along with PP, PE, GRPE, GRN, ABS, etc., are available with FPM, EPDM, PTFE and Nitrile seals and gaskets.
